Chase Race #5 of the season is in the books, and it was a tough lesson in race strategy for me.
I made a critical mistake in qualifying by putting down a lap that was just too fast. A 2:53 put me P5 on the grid, but to hold that position, I would have needed to run consistent 2:51.5 laps for the entire race—a pace I just didn't have in the tank.
The result was a slide back to a P9 finish out of 11. While the overall result wasn't what I hoped for, the race itself was still a blast! The highlight was a fantastic battle with a fellow driver who really had to work to get around me. He even admitted after the race that I didn't make it easy for him, which is always great to hear.
My big takeaway? Next month, the strategy is changing. I'll be aiming for a slightly slower qualifying time to put myself in a more realistic position to race hard and move forward. We'll see if it pays off!
Thanks for watching!
