I forgot to order new tires over the winter, and in qualifying I pushed too hard on last year's leftovers. So I knew that I'd be easy meat for the CFCs and F600s once they got their tires warm during the 13 lap feature race. The only solution was to push hard at the start then manage the gap. I put two seconds on the field in this opening lap, then managed the gap as they came back. My last lap of 1:07.998 was the fastest closed-wheel lap of the weekend but it was a full .8 seconds slower than the cars behind. Another two laps and I've have been toast!
Thanks to Albany Autoworks, and I'd also like to recognize my illegitimate* daughter, Parker Willis, who took her SRF2 from 14th to 1st in her race to claim her first-ever win in wheel-to-wheel racing! All we do in this family is win.
