2017 Toyota 86 (setup details are at bottom of description)
First day running the new RT660s and alignment at Gingerman, to frustrating results. Ran 44s all day, with the best being a 44.08 and this 44.03 in the same session. Couldn't put everything together well enough to crack into the 43s, but after reviewing this video and seeing that I had a car in front of me through T1+2 I'm a bit less down about my driving. I ran a lot of good sectors but just don't feel like I ever put it all together in a single lap. I'm a half second off of my target, which doesn't feel great. As dumb as it is, even a 43.9 would have done a lot for my confidence.
The RT660s are definitely a completely different animal than the RS4s, and the rear toe change has done a ton for the car. I think a lot of what was holding me back throughout the day was having to unlearn habits I had developed driving the car this season. The rear end has been so touchy this year that it took me a couple sessions to redevelop trust in the rear grip. Once I did get back to driving the way I was last season the car was happy to oblige, but since the 660s fall off so dramatically after only a handful of fliers I simply wasted too much of the limited time I had to put things together. Definitely all valuable experience and things that will help me moving forward, but frustrating nonetheless.
