Pukekohe Park w/o Chicane

Pukekohe Park Raceway opened in 1963 as a permanent track designed around a horse racing track that had been hosting thoroughbred races since 1920. It replaced Ardmore Aerodrome as the host circuit of the New Zealand Grand Prix. The car raceway flourished with crowds of more than 40,000 for its first races, with John Surtees winning the first event in a Lola Climax. Formula One stars such as Stirling Moss, Graham Hill, Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, John Surtees, and Keke Rosberg all lapped the track.

The New Zealand Grand Prix was held at Pukekohe on 29 occasions, from 1963 to 2000. Between 1964 and 1975, the Tasman Series attracted the best European drivers during their winter. For many years, Pukekohe hosted New Zealand's premier production car race, the Benson and Hedges 500 mile race (later 1000 km), featuring drivers like Peter Brock, Dick Johnson, and Jim Richards. The circuit held annual rounds of the Australian V8 Supercar race from 2001-2007 and again from 2013. On July 20, 2022, Auckland Thoroughbred Racing announced it would cease hosting motorsport events on April 3, 2023, to focus on horse racing, though the circuit was digitally preserved in iRacing.
