Group: Red
Tires: V730s (3rd-4th days, started at 9 HCs)
Conditions: overall good but some spots stayed wet due to rain earlier in the week and lack of drainage

Setup changes/maintenance:
- oil change
- replaced RF wheel bearing
- tightened LF lower control arm which was causing some clunking, but then found the rod end has play (grr)

I had very low expectations of the track going into the weekend. Kinda expected it to be a more boring laguna (which is saying a lot), but to my surprise it was actually a lot of fun. T2-T4 is great, and the two hairpins are very satisfying if you do them well. There are enough corners that are connected that the track has a good flow to it. Not as good as west and sonoma, but it might be better than east. Unfortunately I'll only do this track once a year at most, so it might take a few years before I can judge it fairly.

My relative lack of experience with more types of corners (and other tracks of course) really showed this weekend. I'm sure if I had a simrig and regularly used it I could have ramped up faster. I'm somewhat confident in my car control, so I got away with a lot of tomfoolery and poor fundamentals. What was most surprising was the length of the corners. Really have to slow the hands down to get that smooth arc into the apex. I think it'll be a good track for developing good habits.

The V730s held up well even though the fronts were reaching 190F. Not having a lot of grip sucks, but at least they're predictable and consistent. They still have plenty of tread, so I should get at least one more day out of them, which my wallet would appreciate. Oil and water temps were good despite the track being quite hot with the sun out the entire time. As expected though, on the second day oil temps went past 240F, but I'm not seeing any power loss.

Skipped the 1st session on Sunday because I was a pit slave for a buddy running the enduro, and I wanted to hang out after the race. Ended the 3rd session early and skipped the rest because I knocked my alignment off from hitting T3 exit curb. Nothing looks bent, but I guess even Verkline arms aren't idiot proof. I'll be at laguna on Sunday, but will probably just do instructor stuff. Don't really want to drive hard with the car out of shape.

1'57 laps
44:14 barely got it chasing fast s2k driver
56:11 fastest lap of the weekend, but my Sunday laps were better (just had less grip then)
1:17:46
1:21:42

10:15 I'm laughing at myself for failing to figure out T8 4 laps in
12:20 nice lol
16:45 T2 is fun if you do it wrong(?)
17:54 I don't think I'm the only one taking a while to figure out T8
21:40 Gordon's Ferrari sounds so good damn
27:21 round 1 of passing Svilen then slide out of the next corner
28:04 look at Andrie in my rear passenger mirror 😨
30:24 T2 slowly becoming my fav corner
32:42 handled it nicely I think
37:40 yikes haha
44:19 round 2 of passing Svilen then sliding shortly after
47:32 no wonder T7 exit rumble strip got dirtier and dirtier
48:20 sliding out of T1... then Nathan in the s2k shows me how to really go sideways
51:17 oh hi Joe
52:35 bye Joe 🤣
58:42 fun
1:07:25 wtf am I doing lmao
1:08:41 couldn't help myself
1:12:33 grip where?
1:15:58 started trying to copy Andrie's T1 after seeing him nail it
1:17:56 sure enough my T1 started to look better, but need better braking, longer coast, and an exit reference (maybe end of tire wall or something)
1:22:26 the lack of grip in T4 caused my head to really tilt (maybe could have started rolling in power earlier to shift some weight around)
1:27:30 mclaren coming out of the pits like a rocket
1:37:36 too much T2 fun into another early T3 apex with too much throttle commitment = dropped wheel
1:38:42 noticed needing ~10 deg of steering input to go straight, time to go home

0:00 Saturday session 1
12:10 Saturday session 2
24:02 Saturday session 3
36:12 Saturday session 4
50:08 Saturday session 5
