The fastest lap time of the weekend is a 2:10.134 at (Lap 7 11:22 in video) obtained in the last session of Saturday. This video includes 10 laps of me chasing my PB, averaging under 2:12.
Learnings:
The SRF experience at SCCA Comp License school helped me tremendously. It truly opened up my senses to feel and keep the car at the limit, and the courage to do so came naturally along with the sharpened senses.
Compared to the 981 Spyder, the SRF is easier to sense but demands a faster and more precise reaction to the chassis, or it would punish the driver with spins and loss of time. The Spyder felt much easier to drive at the limit and was less physically demanding (sound & g-force).
One more thing I realized this weekend is instead of chasing lap times, I made a mental switch to chasing the maintenance of slip angle throughout the phases of each corner. This practice requires the driver to execute all the cornering techniques correctly and if done right, it ensures the car is at the limit every corner. I should invest more seat time doing this and get more comfortable with it.
The aftermath? Significantly more tire wear due to increased and prolonged slip angle but I guess they are designed to be used like this!
ECR - Best curbs in Texas! Great facility and SMOOTH track surface. Absolutely love this track!
