First time driving this track. It was a crazy hot day, max temperature reached about 40 C. My car is a 2019 MX-5, 30AE ND2 with all stock suspension, although today I ran my brand new dedicated track wheel + tire setup. Rays ZE40 cup car 17x7.5 wheels. Falken RT660 205/40r17 tires.
I did a bunch of sim-racing practice this week to help learn the track ahead of time, using a recent scan of Thunderhill available for Assetto Corsa. I was starting to feel pretty comfortable by the second session. I got into the 1:34s. I was feeling more comfortable as the day went on and did a bunch of 1:34s but couldn't get a 1:33.
Then, last session, last two laps, I got clear track. 1:33.22, then 1:32.2. My mind was bit blown when I saw those times. What a great way to end the day! :) Also, I was running on vapor by that point. So it was a huge bonus to make it to the gas pumps without actually running empty...
Finally, it's hard to say how much my Garmin Catalyst helped. I don't have a baseline for the track, so I am confident that my times would have come down without it, but I do feel it helped. So still very much thumbs up from me.
