Clio Cup China R4: Tommy Chan's won after tense battle at Chengdu
Hong Kong driver Tommy Chan won R4 of 2013 Clio Cup China Series after an immense dual with FRD's Kenneth Ma. His 3rd win of the season extended his lead in the Championship. Ye Xingping, meanwhile, scored another Class B win.
R4 Pole-sitter Kenneth Ma did not make the mistake he made in the last round. He successfully held on to his lead in the first lap, while R3 winner Yang Xu lost a place to the fast starting Tommy Chan.
Kennth Ma and Tommy Chan then pulled a gap over them and the rest of the field. They set up their own battle for the win afterwards. At first, Kenneth Ma held a one-second lead over Tommy. But at the closing stage, Kenneth ran out of tires and Tommy would start to close the gap. He then made his move at Lap 12, took the lead and never looks back. He took the win by only 0.488 seconds of margin.
Kenneth Ma took 2nd, while Byron Tong overtook Yang Xu mid-way through the race and took 3rd.
Class B winner went to Ye Xingping again, after the opening lap's battle with Huang Yi. Huang took 2nd and Jian Bo brought up the field.
After 4 rounds, Tommy Chan extended his lead in the Championship with 132 points in his tally, while Kenneth Ma and Byron Tong in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
The next race will stay in Chengdu International Circuit as a supporting race of CTCC on 23-25 August.
