Michael Vergers began his career like so many other drivers in karting . Vergers drove kart races in Spain from the age of 14. In 1984 he was the Spanish Southern Junior Champion and in 1986 fourth in the Spanish national championship . After completing a driver training course at the Jim Russell Racing Drivers School in 1987, he entered monoposto racing in 1988 . He first drove Formula Ford races and won the RAC Formula Ford Championship in 1990 . [1] He then moved to the Formula Opel Lotus . In 1992 he was ninth there in the Euroseries. In 1993 he went to theUnited States and competed in the Barber Dodge Pro Series for two years . Vergers remained active in Formula Ford until the end of the 2008 racing season and, from 1996 onwards, drove races in the British GT Championship
