This was an extremely fun weekend, and also very challenging. My AOS failed and was replaced 2 weeks prior, so a lot of it was regaining confidence in the car. The weather was also changing, from cold and cloudy, to overcast, to light sprinkling rain, and this day it warmed up to around 85F during the time trials. Most of the track days I've been to have had consistent weather, so having to anticipate the levels of grip to the changing environment was new. I also messed up turn 5 hard. I didn't think the car was stopping in time, but I didn't want to go off track, so I had to apply a lot more brakes, and then a lot more steering input to get me around the corner, which lost me a lot of time. The track was much hotter during time trials than it was in any of the previous sessions, so I wasn't expecting to slide around as much as I did.

Looking back on my last Time Trials at Thunderhill where I ran a 2:02, I was really struggling to get that this weekend. It seemed everyone's times were slightly slower. Off the main straight, I was consistently 0.3s behind my PB, and the delta kept increasing.

I was also trying to ride more of the curbs, but I think it wasn't worth it. Delta seemed to increase on the curbs, and the car seemed to hop a bit losing/maintaining speed until it settled. I'm going to experiment with different stiffness on the Ohlins, and trying a line that uses less curbing.

I tried to focus the last day before the Time Trials on
1) not using the runoff in turns 14-15. On the track walk, the pavement looks like potholes. Not good for the suspension! I had a tough time relearning the line, and when/how to apply throttle. I think this contributed to less of a launch onto the front straight, maybe contributing to that +delta. Although in the time trials I did use a bit more of the runout than I was practicing with because I feel I needed it to cut down on my lap times.
2) different entry approach to turn 3 which leads into a straighter line at the exit of 4, making a smoother transition into 5 so that I don't upset the car
3) being more brave through turn 8 with less brakes. I know the car is capable of more, but there is a mental block for me going faster there.
4) tracking all the way to the right on turn 9 so I can open up the arc and carry more speed. Turn 9's exit is tough for me to see because of the blind hill, but also the dirt and pavement blend in with each other when you do crest it, so it's a lot of practice to intuitively know where the place the car.
