Speed Ventures @ Buttonwillow Circuit 2/9/2025.
New track close to home and my first time out! I've been waiting for this for a while now. This track has a lot of long straights resulting in some pretty major braking zones that really ended up cooking my brakes.
I made a lot of improvement today, starting the day running a 2:16 and ending with this 2:04. Definitely not the fastest 86 out there today but I'm pretty satisfied with where I'm at for now. I was dealing with minor brake fade issues all day. I'm on fresh fluid, but I didn't get the chance to bed in the brakes beforehand, so I spent a few sessions baby-ing them a bit before I started to get any real confidence in them.
Microphone setup is still working pretty well, but I changed my intake and exhaust setup before this day and now I'm getting a lot of audio issues. Specifically, the Outbound Motorsport intake snorkel is much louder and seems to be clipping, and the exhaust for some reason is causing some kind of weird howling sound. I swapped exhausts from an MXP Comp RS to a Remark Muffled Axleback. In this video, most of the audio you hear is the intake.
For the overlay, I added a graph showing brake/throttle traces over time because I was curious how my braking was on corner entry. Suffice to say it is not great; really jagged, not very consistent, and not very smooth on release. Much to be improved on.
