First time out at Pitt Race, I'll definitely be coming back. This track is awesome, very technical with a lot of finesse required for effective load transfer and balancing the car. This may be my favorite track that I've driven, but god that T5 hill climb really hurts in this car.
My RT660s were on borrowed time in this session. After our practice session on the full layout the previous afternoon I found my drivers front tire bald from the center rib out with notable blistering along the outer edge. I rotated the wheels from corner to corner, not worrying about the tread direction since there was no sign of rain. The tires had enough for me to cut most of a second off of my best practice time on this lap. The following session was very hot with the surface far from ideal in the wake of several races, and they were absolutely cooked. Looking them over following the final session there were cords just beginning to show.
I feel alright about my driving this weekend, but I was hoping to put down a better time than this. It's hard for me to know where I should draw the line between beating myself up and blaming the tires. I'm sure they held me back on the full course, but I feel like I could have simply driven around them better and managed to cut more time than I did.
All that aside, I'm very eager to get back here and continue working on this track!
