Holy mother of AMG did they do a fantastic job on this bad boy! The Black Series will impress and I was not expecting this type of drive, I mean…I knew it was going to be legit but it really does feel like the AMG GT3 car! It feels nothing like the GT-R or Pro, it’s in a different category. I have many hours in the entire line up and even the AMG-GTS can be a track weapon with the right setup. You start to feel the downforce and dynamics advancements as you go into the GTR and GTR-PRO. Here’s the deal, when you get into the Black Series…it skips a few levels and you’ve know become immortal. The downforce is present, the ceiling is high and you can push it hard! I was at a max of 5/10 on brake pressure, this thing will lay down the law on a lap time 🙌
The car was fresh off the boat so I was being nice (very nice) and did a slow 1:16.7 on the last lap; which is a very quick lap time for our home track…especially considering this was its first heat cycle and no adjustments. The rotor surfaces and tire edges still looked brand new after these laps.
It offers a serious amount of high speed stability, the motor does pull harder than the GT-R and sounds funky. It sadly sounds like 2X2.0L 4 bangers connected together. The Cup 2 Rs are slicks for the first heat cycles, imagine if gorilla glue made a tire, love.
Is it worth the inflated price? I almost say yes, leaning towards yes. Makes a C7 ZR1 feel like a biatch, this drive is once again a new shelf of speed and driver confidence. The car also had a noticeably amount of brake dive with left foot braking and it was just perfect on brake release/turn in. I need more!
